16 Days for Youth – A word from Project Manager Denver Apollus

 In

At HEART FM we are truly representative of the diverse, vibrant and colourful community that is Cape Town, and believe we speak to and understand our audience, intimately. We are a trusted member of the community, but we take this responsibility very seriously.

With this, comes the unique opportunity to be agents of change,  creating a platform for our listeners, partners and clients to be involved with and make a difference in our communities.

Our 16 Days for Youth initiative was created to tell the stories of struggling communities throughout the Western Cape and to mobilise listeners to support them. The initiative aids these communities by feeding, fixing, building and changing the environment for the better.

Heart FM believes these opportunities serve as a platform to connect with listeners while bringing together Capetonians with diverse backgrounds to interact and be a part of the change.

Although activations such as these are largely funded and run independently by the station itself, we rely on the generosity of our listeners and advertisers to lend a hand, in whatever capacity you are able to.

You can assist us in making Heart FM16 Days for Youth a real and meaningful success.

Past Projects

Integrity and authenticity define everything we do. Our audience would accept nothing less. We are the expression of a culture that is the core of Cape Town:  community-centred, socially aware and committed to improving the lives of those around us.

How have we made a difference?

In May 2016 we met Aunty Magda from Paarl – She was feeding 2300 people every week from her own resources with very limited space. Through 16 Days For Youth, we were able to commit to building Magda Meyer a new Soup Kitchen with the assistance of partners and stakeholders in the building industry. As a result of Magda’s Sop Kombuis now feeds more than 6000 people per week and has been a sustainable project ever since.

This is one of at least fifty projects we have supported since then.
