We know how much South Africans love their bredie’s and today we’re highlighting this bredie thats been around for so long – Sausage Bredie!
Its super quick, easy and inexpensive, here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
  • cooking oil
  • sausage cut into pieces (you can use any sausage you have in your fridge)
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 chilli chopped up
  • 4 potatoes, chopped into squares
  • 1 tomato grated
  • 1 tablespoons sugar (add more if desired)
  • 2 teaspoons of tomato paste
  • 1 onion, chopped up
  • salt and pepper to taste
Method:
  • Pour the oil in a pot or pan, heat it up and add your onions until soft
  • Add your garlic to the onions
  • Add your potatoes and stir often
  • Add some water to avoid sticking to the pot
  • Add grated tomato, tomato paste and chilli’s
  • Add the sausages to the mixture and cook till sausage and potatoes are soft
  • Add sugar and cook
  • Add salt and pepper to taste
  • Serve in a bowl with steamed rice or fresh white bread with butter
