We know how much South Africans love their bredie’s and today we’re highlighting this bredie thats been around for so long – Sausage Bredie!
Its super quick, easy and inexpensive, here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
- cooking oil
- sausage cut into pieces (you can use any sausage you have in your fridge)
- 3 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 chilli chopped up
- 4 potatoes, chopped into squares
- 1 tomato grated
- 1 tablespoons sugar (add more if desired)
- 2 teaspoons of tomato paste
- 1 onion, chopped up
- salt and pepper to taste
Method:
- Pour the oil in a pot or pan, heat it up and add your onions until soft
- Add your garlic to the onions
- Add your potatoes and stir often
- Add some water to avoid sticking to the pot
- Add grated tomato, tomato paste and chilli’s
- Add the sausages to the mixture and cook till sausage and potatoes are soft
- Add sugar and cook
- Add salt and pepper to taste
- Serve in a bowl with steamed rice or fresh white bread with butter
