Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has welcomed the decision to ease the country down to Lockdown Level One.
But, he has warned Western Cape residents to act responsibly to avoid a spike in hospitalisations and deaths.
On Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa lifted some restrictions, including the curfew time.
Public gatherings can resume, and the sale of alcohol has returned to normal trading hours.
Epidemiologists predict that the third wave will hit the country around winter.
Winde says they will continue to monitor areas of concern.
“As the Western Cape Government, we will closely monitor and track data as we have done throughout the pandemic, to pinpoint areas of concern. We have sophisticated tools at our disposal to do this, and we will use our hotspot strategy and our “bushfire” response to manage the pandemic at this time”.
