Western Cape Health officials are worried about an increase in the amount of local transmission of the corona virus in the City of Cape Town.
During a briefing to the provincial legislature, it was revealed that every district in the metro has seen an increase in these types of cases.
The province’s head of the health department, Dr Keith Cloete, says they’ve drastically increased the number of screenings and testings across the Cape.
A total of 3,818 covid-19 tests have been done in the province so far, with 22 deaths and at least 229 recoveries.
Cloete says of the fatalities, the majority of those who died were also battling other life-threatening conditions.
