Western Cape health authorities say it’s all systems go for the Covid-19 Phase 2 vaccination rollout on Monday.
This phase covers people aged 60 and older, and the focus will be on those living in Old Age Homes.
The department says some health workers are expected to be given shots today.
Authorities say they’ll be focusing on the Cape Town Metro this week.
A total of seven vaccine sites have been identified in the Mother City.
More than 30,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered.
The department’s Mark van der Heever, says only people who have been contacted should go to the vaccine sites.
“Over the next few weeks, more vaccination sites will come online, including Rural sites, to provide vaccination service to the identified population. It is imperative that the public support us during this first week and the best thing to do is to not present to a vaccination site if you have not been contacted. We encourage everyone who is 60 or older, or know someone who is, to please register for your vaccine.”
