Western Cape health authorities have confirmed that hospital visitations are not allowed anymore at their public facilities.

This is due to the rise in the number of Covid-19 infections in province.

Currently there’re 12,695 active cases in the province.

In April while the country was on Alert level 1, the provincial government allowed people to visit their loved ones at their facilities.

Authorities say they’ll make exceptions only for some cases.

Health spokesperson, Marika Botha, said,“ We do understand that this is challenging for our visitors, but we appeal to families, friends, and loved ones to respect these  visitation restrictions in aid of the safety of all of us.  Should you need to go to hospital please contact the facility in advance to enquire about their specific arrangement for visitation that they have in place”.
