Western Cape dam levels have only increased slightly in the past week.

The levels currently stand at 76.3% – not even a full one percent higher than a week ago.

But they’re still 10% higher compared to the same period in 2019.

Dams supplying City of Cape Town with drinking water, had a slightly better week – and are at 96.4%.

Spokesperson for the department of Local Government, James-Brent Styan, says people need to continue to save water.

” We want to urge people continue to use water responsibly and wisely. The resource will always remain under pressure, and we may have good rainfall season. But we need to conserve and use water responsibly, with an eye on the upcoming summer season. And the best time to save water is while you still have it”.
