Western Cape authorities are concerned by a number of parties and large social gatherings being held across the province.

This was discovered during operations conducted by the Disaster Management Centre to enforce Covid19 regulations, over the weekend.

Among events include a Cooler Box Festival in Ladismith in the Central Karoo, and a matric party in Knysna.

The centre says both events have led to multiple infections.

Spokesperson for the department of Local Government, James-Brent Styan, is appealing to people to stop hosting such events.

“This is not the time to hold big parties regardless the reason. If we wish to have a safe, happy festive season, it is critical to keep our guard up and to be responsible”.
