The Wednesday’s evening winter storm that hit the Western Cape has claimed the lives of two people in Bonnievale.
It’s understood that they were trapped in flood waters in an overturned truck on the R317.
The local government and environmental affairs department says the storm caused significant damage and flooding across the Cape Winelands.
The department’s James Brent-Styan says similar conditions as last night are expected to continue across the province throughout the day.
“The conditions were very difficult and we are grateful for the men and women who stood up once more to help our communities. We hope that we don’t see any further major incidents and urge the public to take care over the next few days.”
