Western Cape Social Development MEC, Sharna Fernandez, has handed over two new shelters for victims of gender-based violence, on the West Coast.

She officially opened the Daisy Safe-house, and Aalwyn Place of Safety on Friday.

Fernandez says the provision of safe spaces for victims of GBV is important for the provincial government, to indicate that support system is available for the victims.

She is appealing to members of the public to continue fight against the scourge.

“One woman and/or child violated, is one too many. By working together, we can have #Onevoice united against gender-based violence- 365 days of the year”.
