The widespread public violence in K-Z-N and Gauteng is putting the health system in danger.

In his address to the nation last night, President Cyril Ramaphosa focussed on the impact it’s having on the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out.

But there’ve also been reports that drivers transporting oxygen refuse to be on the roads in these provinces without a police escort.

And a number of ambulances were attacked in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday – including a team that was shot at with automatic rifles.

Ramaphosa says the vaccination program is already being affected.

“There is a danger that our vaccination programme will be disrupted in some areas just as we need to significantly expand this.  Acting Minister of Health, Mmamoloko Kubayi informed me that they had stop the vaccination programme in a number places in the country. We cannot allow this to happen”.
