South Africa has recorded another 82 coronavirus deaths, bringing the death toll to 1,162.
Of the new fatalities, 61 were registered in the Western Cape, 11 in the Eastern Cape and 10 in Gauteng.
The Health Department says the total number of infections has increased to 52,991 in the past 24 hours.
While, 26,006 patients have recovered from the pandemic.
This illustrates to 25,823 active cases in the country.
The Western Cape which remains the epicentre has 12,250 active cases and 851 people have died.
The department has stressed that the country’s death rate is still only 2% of all positive cases
