The Western Cape Health Department says it wants to increase the number of Covid-19 vaccines administered on a daily basis.

Authorities hope to inoculate around 6,000 people this week.

More than 50 vaccine sites are currently operating across the province.

They include public and private facilities.

Head of Health, Dr Keith Cloete says more sites are being opened every week.

“ That means we need to attain 30,000 this week, 60,000 next week,120,000 the week after, this means we need to do 24,000 vaccines a day in this province. Our systems are all geared for this incremental change over three to four weeks, with all the sites operating to be able to achieve this”.
