The Western Cape Government will now allow walk-ins at its Covid-19 vaccine sites, as part of Phase 2 rollout.

This decision has been taken following a large number of people seen queuing at these sites over the past week.

The department says those with appointments will still be prioritised.

Around 30-thousand people have been inoculated across the province since Phase 2 commenced on the 17th of May 2021.

Authorities say there’re officials at each site, where they’re enforcing physical distancing, mask wearing and sanitising protocols.

Head of Health, Dr Keith Cloete, says to those who consider walking in without an appointment, they’ll need to be patient…

“People can go on to a walk-in, but you can wait up to 6 to 7 hours. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get a vaccine on a day. It will depend on capacity and how many people keeping their appointments at that site”.
