A famed local musician, facing sexual abuse charges has been released out on bail today.
The 48 year old was arrested on Friday at his home in Kuil Rivers, on charges of sexual assault and raping a teenaged boy.
According to reports the victim was allegedly assaulted over a number of years, since the age of 14.
The police investigation has been on-going for about a month so far.
The accused was granted bail of R1,000 Rand.
The Blue Downs Magistrate also ruled that the media may not publish the accused’s identity until his plea date, in late October 2020.
The accused has in the meantime stepped down as deputy chair for the Trade Union for Musicians South Africa.
