Western Cape’s covid19 death toll has surpassed the mark of 500.
The province has recorded 22 more deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 525.
The number of active cases in the province has increased to 9,521.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said that the number of active cases across the country stands at 16,844.
Meanwhile Mkhize and his counterpart, Health MEC Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, are visiting quarantine sites in the Witzenberg region.
The area is one of the covid19 hotspots.
