The number of active Covid-19 cases in the Western Cape has jumped to 18 518 on Wednesday.
This is an increase of 910 cases from the previous day.
There are more than 1 700 patients in hospital with 417 being treated in ICU.
Premier Alan Winde says sadly 25 more people have succumbed to covid-related illness over the past 24 hour period.
“The Western Cape has recorded 25 additional deaths bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 12 352. We obviously have to make sure that we continue to flatten the curve, and can’t allow these numbers to continue to rise unabated”.
