The number of active cases in the Western Cape has remained stable.

The number of healthcare workers battling the virus has also dropped sharply.

In December 2020, during the height of the second wave, close to 2 000 healthcare workers were infected with the virus.

This dropped to its lowest level since the pandemic started in March last year with just 38 infections in March 2021.

Into the second week of April, and there have been just 2 infections amongst healthcare workers so far, bringing the current number of active cases among healthcare workers to just 16.

More than 53,000 healthcare workers have already been vaccinated in the province.
