The Health Department says 195 people have died due to Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the national death to 48,094.

The Western Cape had recorded the most of the new fatalities, with 62.

It’s followed by Gauteng 58, North West 39, the Eastern Cape 25, the Free State 11, the Northern Cape 6, and Kwa-Zulu Natal 3.

The department said 1,102 new infections were confirmed over the 24 hour cycle.

This means that the total number of cumulative cases stand at 1 492 909.

South Africa’s recovery rate is at 93%, which means there’re 1 391 155 people who have recovered from the virus.

Meanwhile the Western Cape has 5 980 active cases and 10,860 people have died.
