The decision to close schools are on the cards and will be decided by the Education Department

The Department of Basic Education has reacted to the South African Democratic Trade Union’s (Sadtu) call for schools to be suspended while the country battles the COVID-19 pandemic, saying such a decision will only be made by Cabinet.

A number of grades have gone back to the classroom since June, after the national lockdown prompted the schools to close doors.
