
The fire that’s been raging for three days now in Cape Town has been largely contained.
Firefighting efforts are now focused on Deer Park and the Disa Park towers in Vredehoek.
The Table Mountain National Park blaze has gutted more than 4 000 hectares, engulfing a few historic buildings in the process.
Cape Town Fire and Rescue services’ spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse said. “Three days since the start of the devastating Rhodes Memorial blaze. Crews have worked tirelessly and the wind having died down considerably, has given them some respite. Fresh crews and seasonal firefighters will be deployed to those hot spot areas at 09h00 today”.
