Student body, Cosas, is threatening to close all schools across the province on Monday.

It says it’s concerned about the increase of Covid19 infections in the province, especially at schools.

Cosas says all schools were given until last Friday to inform learners, and teachers about the planned shutdown.

The organisation will gather at Rhodes High School in the CBD.

Education MEC, Debbie Schäfer, says 98 teachers tested positive across the positive.

Cosas’s Buntu Joseph says the department must come up with a new plan.

” We have observed the number of learner testing positive has been increasing. So we have taken to ourselves that no school will operate in the Western Cape. We are calling on the department to go to the drawing board, and we also want all to learners to be tested not screened”.
