Today is the day you should fill up that tank in your car, as petrol prices will rise as from Wednesday.
The Energy Department said that the retail price of petrol would increase by R1.18 cents per litre, and Diesel will rise by 22 cents.
The department’s Robert Maake said: “The main reason for this increase is that the crude oil price increased on average when compared to the previous period.” This was due to the less demand during Covid-19. So while South Africa was forced to stay home because of lockdown, prices decreased and it was cheaper to travel to work too. Petrol will still remain cheaper than before, despite the increase on Wednesday.
Fill up Hearties, you have till midnight!
