South Africa has recorded further 243 Covid-19 deaths on Monday, bringing the national death toll to  41,117.

The Eastern Cape had the highest number of deaths with 65.

It’s followed by Kwa-Zulu Natal with 60, the Western Cape with 57, Gauteng with 33, Mpumalanga with 5 and the Northern Cape with 5.

The national department of Health says 4 551 new cases identified since the last report.

This pushes the number of confirmed cumulative cases since the start of Covid-19 in 2020, to 1 417 537.

The recovery rate now stands at 87.6%.
