South Africa has recorded a further 31 new Covid-19 related deaths on Sunday, bringing the national death toll to 50,678.

Gauteng had the majority of the new fatalities with 12.

It’s followed by the Western Cape, 11, Mpumalanga 4, Kwa-Zulu Natal 2, and the Free State 2.

The Health Department says 863 new infections have been confirmed over the past 24 hour period.

This means the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country is 1 521 068.

South Africa’s recover rate stands at 94%, which means 1 440 874 people have recovered at the moment.

Meanwhile,  the Western Cape has 3 104 active cases and 12,282 people have died.
