
South Africa has recorded eight Covid-19 related deaths on Monday, bringing the national death toll to 52 995.
The new fatalities were confirmed in the Free State and Gauteng with four each.
The Health Department says a total of 453 new infections had been identified over the 24 hour cycle.
The cumulative number of cases since the virus was reported last year stands at 1 552 416.
Authorities say the recovery rate is 95%, which means there’re 1 478 088people who have recovered.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape has 2 192 active cases and 11,472 people have died.
