South Africa has recorded 73 more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the national toll to 2,456.
Of the new fatalities, 40 were confirmed in the Western Cape, 17 in Gauteng, 13 in the Eastern Cap and 3 in KwaZulu Natal.
The country has registered a daily new record of infections, after 7 334 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
Currently the cumulative number of confirmed cases stand at 138 134.
However, 68,925 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that the country has 66,753 active cases.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape has 15, 822 active cases and 1,737 people have died.
