South Africa has recorded 72 more Covid-19 related deaths on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 13,059.
Of the new fatalities the majority were registered in Gauteng with 41 deaths.
It’s followed by KwaZulu Natal with 12, the Eastern Cape with 11 and the Western Cape with 8.
The Health Department says more than 2,700 new cases were reported over the 24 hour period, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 609 773.
Authorities say a total of 506 470 people have beaten the virus, which translate to the recovery rate of 83%.
Currently there’re 90,244 active cases in the country.
Meanwhile the Western Cape has 5,203 active cases and 3,726 people have succumbed to the virus.
