South Africa has recorded 5 more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing total known death toll to 153.

The Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal, registered two deaths each, while the fifth death was in Limpopo.

In a media statement Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mlkhize, says the number of confirmed cases has also increased to 7,808 across the country.

However, 3,153 recoveries have been reported.

The Western Cape remain the province with highest confirmed cases with 3760, and it’s followed by Gauteng with 1,720.

Mkhize confirmed that 2 health workers have died from the virus, while 26 have been hospitalised.

A total of 511 health workers have contracted the coronavirus.
