
South Africa has recorded 213 more Covid-19 related deaths on Sunday, bringing the national death toll to 44 164.
The majority of the new fatalities were reported in the Eastern Cape, with 95.
It’s followed by the Gauteng with 58, Kwa-Zulu Natal with 23, Mpumalanga 17, the Free State 8, the Western Cape also 8, and the Northern Cape with 4.
The Health Department says a total of 4 525 new cases have been identified over the same period, taking the number of cumulative cases confirmed to 1 453 761.
The number of recoveries now stand at 1 299 620, representing a recovery rate of 89%.
Meanwhile in the Western Cape, has 13,358 active cases and 10,243 people have died.
