South Africa has recorded 174 more covid-19 related deaths on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 4,356.

The majority of the new deaths were confirmed in Gauteng, with 82.

It’s followed by the Western Cape with 44, KwaZulu Natal with 27, the Eastern Cape with 17 and the Northern Cape with 4.

The Health Department says a total of 10,496 new infections were reported in the past 24 hour period.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases now stand at 298 292.

Currently 146 279 recoveries have been recorded.

This indicates that the country has 147 667 active cases.

Meanwhile, the Western Cape has 15,160 active cases and 2,416 people have died due to the virus.
