CAPE TOWN’s FINEST ARTISTS UNITES AGAINST COVID-19 & GENDER BASED VIOLENCE AT CAPE TOWN IN CONCERT STREAMING EVENT
Some of Cape Town’s leading artists, musicians and entertainers, will unite on Saturday 8th August 2020 for the biggest live streaming event to come out of the mother city.
Cape Town in Concert in association with Kyknet & Kie and Heart FM, a live streaming musical and dance event takes on Saturday 8th August 2020 at 7pm. The event promises to be a fun- filled experience for the entire family and will feature some of our best and most talented performing and recording artists including Robin Pieters, Vicky Sampson, Salome, Nur Abrahams, Loukman Adams, Vuvu Khumalo, Claire Phillips and Wayne Mckay.
The event aims to heighten awareness around the Covid-19 pandemic, unite our people against all forms of gender based violence (GBV) and highlight the impact of the current pandemic on the mental health of our people. The event further provides our local artists with an opportunity to showcase their talent and earn much needed income.
The show would be used primarily to entertain our people across the mother city and across the world and help them forget about their current issues just for ninety minutes. However, these artists will constantly be reminding their followers about the importance of wearing a mask in public, regularly washing their hands and maintaining safe social distancing, as we play our parts in levelling the curve and saving lives. We shall use this platform to remind the viewers that they are not alone, especially those infected and affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. We shall remind the public that there’s no shame in testing positive for Covid-19 and the fact that the overwhelming majority of those infected will survive. WE shall call upon the public to break the stigma attached to testing positive! The Cape Mental health Society, a beneficiary of this event, will use this event to remind the public about the negative impact that Covid-19 is having on the mental state of our people and how to deal and overcome the anxieties associated with this pandemic.
We shall use this show to send out a clear message to all victims of gender based violence that they are not alone and remind them that there’s always help available. We shall encourage victims of all forms of sexual violence to report these crimes to the police and urge the public not to shield known rapists and paedophiles irrespective their social standing in society.
