Cape Town, 20 December 2019. Today Heart FM announced a breakthrough lineup change that will see radio veteran, Ryan O’Connor join its highly talented team of presenters. From March 2020 O’Connor, arguably one of Cape Town’s most familiar voices, will take over the driver’s seat from Suga on Drive 3-6 and joins Jeremy Harris on sport and traffic presenter Jo-Dee Butler.

Suga will move to the 9-12 slot bringing her vivacious personality to homes and offices throughout the Metropole. With over two decades experience, she is no stranger to the airwaves and the mid morning seat just got hotter!

On the bold move, Managing Director Renee Redelinghuys comments, “ We realise Ryan’s value in the industry therefore to compliment our stellar line-up it makes sense to bring O’ Connor over to Cape Town’s most loved and biggest radio station. We thank Suga for her value and contribution to building the audience during this time slot and comfortable the handover to Ryan is a pleasant and positive one for both of them. “

“The station has for many years retained its number one spot as Cape Town’s number one but the industry is ever evolving and with terrestrial radio its always a challenge to stay at the top. First and foremost our on-air presence needs to be entertaining, surprising and informative. “ Vernon Nel, Programme Manager.

Irma G will be leaving the station at the end of February. “Irma has been a valuable part of the Heart FM team for many years and has had many memorable moments both on and off air. She leaves a deep footprint in the hearts and lives of listeners and collegues at the station, comments Nel. “

Denver Apollus, Head of Radio Innovation, comments, “Ryan is excited to join the team and we are looking forward to unleashing Ryan’s creative radio content which will excite our listeners across the board.”
