MISSING CHILDREN SA – BIANCA VAN ASWEGAN – NATIONAL COORDINATOR FOR MISSING CHILDRENS SA
Missing Children South Africa was established in March 2007 in response to the kidnapping and brutal murders of Sheldean Human (7) from Pretoria and Anestacia Wiese (12) from Mitchell’s Plain. MCSA exists to be reactive and to create awareness when a missing persons case is reported.
THE FACTS
- A child goes missing every five hours in South Africa, according to figures released by the South African Police Service Missing Persons Bureau for 2013.
- Missing Children South Africa’s statistic indicates that 77% of children are found.
- Sadly, this still leaves us with at least 23% of the children being either never found, trafficked or found deceased.
We’re currently busy with our 16 Days for Youth initiative and we have heard some amazing stories, and this is an organisation that I hold dear to my heart. They are doing amazing work within our communities to ensure our children have a future.
