The nationwide Lockdown has taken South Africa by storm and has placed tremendous pressure on arts practitioners. However, Thanks to Penny Lane Studios, Brukman Consulting and other stakeholder, we have managed to successfully host virtual concerts over the past few months. Lockdown Live has given us the platform to showcase our talents, raise funds and create awareness around the pandemic.
Now, as part of Youth Month and our Corporate Responsibility Initiative, we have decided not to have an established artist join us but to introduce a new concept!
Lockdown Live Youth Day Voice Search is about to shake things up. Part of loving music, a big part of who I am is creating platforms for other young dreamers who are also in pursuit of a platform bigger than themselves. Lockdown has not only prohibited us from working but it has hindered the progress and the harnessing of young talent as well. In order for us to keep growing as an industry, we need fresh winds and this is your time to stand in the light and show the world what you are made of.
We will be hosting virtual auditions to find the very best local talent to grace your screens on the Youth Day edition of Lockdown Live. We have carefully selected a panel with some of the industry’s top vocal coaches and performers to ensure that we follow due process and take everything into consideration. This competition is open to all singers and rappers to express themselves. After selection, the Top 5 will be announced on the 12th June 2020 and will then appear on Lockdown Live and the winners will be selected accordingly.

The winner will also receive an opportunity to perform on Its A Love Thing Volume 5 in 2021! How exciting!
