Rival taxi associations, Codeta and Cata, have apologised to residents for the bloodshed caused by their conflict with one another.
On Monday, the associations signed an agreement, which sees the services on almost all routes and ranks resume.
The B97 route between Mbekweni and Bellville will, however, remain closed.
This specific route is at the heart of the conflict between the two associations.
Its operations will be decided by an arbitration panel that is still considering the matter.
Nearly 90 taxi-related murders have been reported in the province, since the start of year.
Codeta secretary, Lesley Sikuphela, says they want to regain the trust of commuters.
CATA secretary, Mandla Hermanus says the industry and government must compensate the families who have lost loved ones in the violence.
