Provincial health authorities say Covid-19 clusters are increasing and moving into impoverished communities.
For the past months the outbreaks have been identified in affluent suburbs.
The health department says the clusters are reported at workplaces, schools and old age homes.
The Western Cape continues to see an increase in the number of new infections.
Currently there’re 14 844active cases in the province, and more than 1,400 covid patients at hospitals.
Health MEC, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, says their priority is to protect the vulnerable.
“It means that our approach we must prioritise vulnerable groups. We’ll also prioritise the groups in terms of testing for Covid-19”.
