President Cyril Ramaphosa has tested positive for COVID-19.

The presidency says, however, that he is in good spirits.

Ramaphosa started feeling unwell after leaving the state memorial service of former President FW de Klerk in Cape Town’s CBD on Sunday.

Ramaphosa, who is fully vaccinated, is currently in self-isolation in Cape Town and is being monitored by the SANDF’s Military Health Service.

The president says his own infection serves as a caution to all people in the country to be vaccinated and remain vigilant against exposure.
