Premier Alan Winde says 10 Covid19 patients have been admitted to the new CTICC health facility on Monday.
The Hospital of Hope was officially opened by President Cyril Ramaphosa last Friday.
The facility which wills accommodate more than 800 recovering patients, is the biggest temporary hospital on the continent.
Additional beds will be activated in a phased manner until the entire facility is fully operational.
The facility has equipment to administer oxygen, a digital x-ray machine, physiotherapy areas as well as an on-site pharmacy.
Winde has wished the patients well.
