Western Cape Premier Alan Winde plans to approach President Cyril Ramaphosa to request an extension to the time allocated for exercise.
Photos taken on the Sea Point Promenade last Friday showed a concerning number of people exercising in that space, many without face masks.
Joggers, cyclists and walkers, are only allowed to exercise between 6 and 9 in the morning.
People need to exercise within a 5-km radius from their residences, and not in groups.
Winde says they want to get rid of the congestion.
