Premier Alan Winde has praised all fire fighters for their efforts in containing the Table Mountain fire.

On Tuesday, Winde visited the Central Fire Station on Roeland Street, where he engaged with the command team.

It’s been four days since the blaze began raging, but it’s now largely contained.

At least six fire fighters have sustained injuries so far.

Injuries to members of the public were limited to nine people being taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation.

Speaking during yesterday’s visit, Winde wished the remaining crews well as they look to fully extinguish all the fire lines.

The incident commander overseeing the last few days’ operations ,Arlene Wehr, also had praise for the people of Cape Town.
