Western Cape police have arrested 4 people for dealing in illicit cigarettes and drugs in Paarl, on Tuesday.
They were nabbed while the police were conducting search operations in the Mbekweni township.
Police searched 6 houses and found a variety of drugs comprising dagga, tik and mandrax tablets.
The police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut says at the seventh house they seized packets of cigarettes valued at more than R1 million.
” 2,290 packets of cigarettes, and Tabaco products with an estimated value of R1.1 million, as well as R8,2580 which were found abandoned at an address. The circumstances surrounding the seizure are under investigation and those responsible for the goods are being sought”.
