South Africa is not experiencing a second wave of Covid-19, says Health Minister Zweli Mkhize. People need to be aware of the cluster outbreaks in provinces though, especially the Eastern Cape.
Mkhize announced that South Africa has had more than 750,000 Covid-19 infections since March. We need to stand together and help each other to manage the outbreaks as it happens. Health Minister says it is critical that we follow protocols. He also made mention that during the pandemic, the country did not run out of oxygen or ventilators.
Mkhize said “We went down to about 1,000 cases per day but we started moving back to 2,000 positive cases per day recently.”
As of 14 November, there was a cumulative total of 749,182 cases recorded in the country, 92.5% of those infected have recovered.
