Opposition parties have shared mixed reaction to Western Cape Budget delivered on Tuesday.

Finance MEC David Maynier’s big announcement was that 2.17 Billion Rand will be spent to fight Covid-19 over the next three years.

The money will be spent on rolling out vaccines, procuring the vaccines, and responding to the inevitable third wave.

The ANC says the speech lacked details, about infrastructure projects prioritised by provincial government and the timeframe.

The GOOD party says is welcomes the money set aside to fight the pandemic, but it’s clear that there’re no real plans from government to independently procure vaccines.

Meanwhile,  ACDP welcomed the recruitment of 500 additional law enforcement officers in high crime areas, however,  said that’s not enough.

The party feels social ills need to be addressed as well.
