On Sunday marked one year since the murder of theology student Jesse Hess and her grandfather in their Parow home and as she’s being remembered.
Western Cape Community Safety MEC, Albert Fritz, says his department will continue to monitor cases of gender-based violence.
He said this at the one-year memorial of Jesse and her grandfather, Chris Lategan, on Sunday.
Two people linked to the murders are currently behind bars.
The department has established a Court Watching Brief unit to monitor the cases.
Fritz says Hess and her grandfather can’t be forgotten.
