“Low self-esteem is like driving through life with your hand brake on.” — Maxwell Maltz. Self-esteem and self-confidence come from inside and many of us lack this. How do you overcome that fear? Are you the shy person that only looks up when spoken to? Or are you the person that overshares? Either way, let us have a look at how to improve your self-esteem and self-confidence!

It’s near impossible to make time for your dreams, to break away from the traditional standard, and to truly be yourself, if you have low self-esteem and self-confidence.

Something to consider when it comes to confidence. Being loud doesn’t necessarily mean that you are confident. Similarly, just like when in an argument, the person that is louder doesn’t necessarily mean that they are the one winning the argument.

We need to establish something first. The difference between self-esteem and self-confidence. Self-esteem refers to whether you believe you’re worthy of respect from others whereas self-confidence means whether you believe in yourself.

  1. Dress for the confidence you want

We have all heard the phrase, “Dress for the job you want and not the job you have”. This applies here with self-esteem and self-confidence. Simple grooming such as shaving and dressing up into your favourite dress can do amazing things for your self-image. Make yourself feel good by looking good.

  1. Kill all negativity

How do you talk to you about you? How do you feel about yourself? Do you dim your own light and discourage yourself? No more! Beware of the self-talk you have with yourself. Replace your negative thought with positive ones.

  1. Puzzle yourself

Are you complex and take hours to figure out? You must be a puzzle. What do we do with puzzles? We solve them. Get to know yourself. We can’t face the enemy without knowing them. Write about your thought, hopes and dreams. Get to know why you function the way you do.

  1. Be prepared

It’s hard to be confident when you aren’t prepared. When you are prepared you are more confident and prepared to answer any type of question.

  1. Do something that you keep procrastinating on

We all have that dream that we secretly wanted to achieve. That we know we are low-key great at. Showcase that talent or skill. Start that blog, YouTube Channel or Facebook page. No regrets.

Become someone worthy of respect, and someone who can pursue what you want despite the naysaying of others.
