Hospitals in the Western Cape are currently under severe pressure.

This is due to the sharp increase in Covid-19 admissions at hospitals, as well as other trauma cases.

On Saturday, the province recorded the highest number of daily cases of 4,202.

This exceeds the previous figure of 2,660 cases on June the 15th.

At the time the province was experiencing the peak.

Currently there’re more than 31,000 active cases in the province.

The Health Department’s Dr Saadiq Kariem, says despite the expansion in bed capacity, they still require members of the public to come on board.
