COVID-19 affected more than our health. For many of us, it affected how we work and if we worked. After months of not being able to work or working fewer hours, a lot of people are wondering, “Can we even do Christmas presents this year?” If your budget for Christmas isn’t what it used to be, you’re not alone.
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that many things we thought mattered don’t. Big gifts are fun to open, but the best gifts we can give are the ones that don’t cost anything at all.
Three Gifts That Won’t Cost You Anything
1. Gift your expertise.
Every homeowner has unfinished projects. Are you handy with a hammer, a power drill, or a lawnmower? Give someone you love the gift of seeing that project finished at last. A new flower bed, an organised closet, a bathroom update — these are gifts that keep on giving.
2. Gift your time.
Is someone in your social bubble longing for some alone time or a date night? Offer to babysit for free, clean their house while they’re at work, or drop a home-cooked meal at the door. Without buying anything, you’ll give them a memory that lasts forever.
3. Gift your words.
Write a card, make a short video, or drive by someone’s house and chat on the lawn. Take the time to tell that person how much you love them or how they made a difference in your life.
Christmas gifts are about showing someone we care, and love can’t be measured in dollars and cents.
