Check out these camping spots in the Western Cape that we absolutely love:-
- The Baths Natural Hot Springs – Citrusdal
Stray within the Olifants River Valley of Citrusdal; the perfect getaway for water babies who love nature. Twenty-five shady caravan and camping sites lead to the natural water baths found in the area, so your days can consist of tons of time in the soothing hot springs.
Facilities: Three shared ablution blocks are spaced throughout the campsite. In addition, there are braai facilities available, as well as electrical points.
- Tweede Tol – Worcester
You need only drive 95km out of Cape Town to experience some exquisite rock pools in the Western Cape. This scenic campsite is found on the beautiful Bainskloof Pass and is part of the Limietberg Nature Reserve – a vast 102 000 hectares of mountains, wildlife and fynbos. Pitch your tent at one of the 20 standard campsites, each with designated braai area. There’s plenty to do here, including hiking, swimming, picnicking, and freshwater angling.
Facilities: Communal ablution facilities, kids jungle gym.
Note: It is essential to book beforehand, especially during peak seasons and school holidays. No pets are allowed.
- Palmiet Caravan Park – Kleinmond
This caravan park and campsite in the picturesque coastal village of Kleinmond boasts approximately 170 stands in totals – 100 caravan and 70 tent sites – where six people are allowed per site. The scenic seaside region in which the campsite is located is a top spot for whale watching from August to November. With direct access to the beach and lagoon, as well as the Palmiet River, guests can go swimming, canoeing, tubing and boardsailing.
Facilities: Communal ablution blocks and braai area.

- Berg River Resort is centrally situated in the beautiful Winelands, 60km northeast of Cape Town between Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. A variety of guest accommodation is available ranging from comfortable, two bedroomed, family chalets to partially shaded caravan and campsites. Facilities include a 3,5m deep Olympic pool, a kiddie’s pool, waterslide and the river which is ideal for swimming and canoeing. Berg River resort is the perfect place to visit for a family braai, a picnic, school outing, birthday gathering or a team building event. There are facilities for catered functions by arrangement.
