A number of field workers will visit several homes in Cape Town on Monday to test people for the coronavirus.

The Western Cape Health Department’s approach is to focus on areas where locally transmitted coronavirus cases have been confirmed.

Among those areas will be visited on Monday are: Khayelitsha, Bishop Lavis and Phillipi.

A total of 454 covid19 confirmed cases have been recorded in the province.

The department says 20 people have been admitted in hospital, with nine being in ICU.

Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo says where possible they’ll expand their operations if more cases are confirmed.
